Our Executive Team

John W. McCauley is the CEO of Highland Paving.

Prior to founding Highland Paving in 2002, John was active for six years in the construction and development business, constructing sites throughout the southeast for national restaurants and retailers.  John is a native of Fayetteville.  John is a graduate of Davidson College and The University of North Carolina School of Law.  In addition to his construction experience, John has more than a decade of experience as a prosecutor and commercial litigator.  John serves on the Board of Directors of New Century Bancorp, Chairman of the Board of the Fayetteville Academy and on the Session of First Presbyterian Church. 

Brian Raynor manages all field operations for the company.  Brian attended N.C. State University prior to founding Cape Fear Contracting, a full service site work contractor.  Brian is a licensed contractor with nearly a decade of experience managing grading, utility and paving work.  Brian merged Cape Fear Contracting with Highland Paving Co. in 2005. He is a lifelong resident of Cumberland County, where he has a reputation for promoting efficiency and completing projects on schedule.

Albert O. McCauley is a partner in the firm.  Albert has input into all major decisions and is personally responsible for marketing and customer communication.  Albert has more than 40 years of business experience in the region.  Albert founded and managed Quick Stop Food Mart, Inc. as grew to more than 100 units.  He spent more than 40 years in the moving and storage business.  Albert has been named Entrepreneur of the Year by Methodist University School of Business.  He has served in positions of leadership for numerous non profits and civic organizations.  Currently, Albert also serves on the Board of Directors for BB&T Corporation, one of the nation’s largest financial holding companies.

Together, these principals are involved in every major decision.  The owners of the company personally visit every job and work to insure customer satisfaction.

Highland Paving has reached substanital completion of muti-million dollar site package for Wal-Mart,

Highland paving provided a complete site package for the new Super Wal-Mart store on Ramsey St. in Fayetteville, N.C..  the project which included earthwork, erosion control, utilites, grading, paving and right of way improvements was started in May.  Six months later, Highland has completed the project on schedule.  Despite an abnormally wet summer, Highland was able to complete this demanding project to stringent specs on time.  We are proud to have been a part of completing one of the largest commercial projects in the area.

Highland Paving is awarded site work package for new Rick Hendrick Toyota.

Choate Construction has retained Highland Paving to provide the site work package for the new Rick Hendrick Toyota store in Fayetteville, N.C..  The project, which is located on Skibo Rd., includes clearing, earthwork, erosion control, utilites, grading and paving.  Highland Paving is pleased to have the opportunity to work with two of the mose respected companies in N.C..
